Culinary Action on the Road 2023

After the success of the last japanese edition, Future Food Institute and Tokyo Food Institute will held for the second time in Japan the Culinary Action on the Road.

This competition, promoted by Basque Culinary Center in different countries, began in the United States in 2022 and has been held from time to time in Argentina, Denmark, and Israel.

During 2023 the “Culinary Action On The Road” will open in Tokyo on October 19th, 2023, passing by Copenhagen, Buenos Aires, New York, Tel Aviv, before landing in San Sebastian (March) where the winners of the regional competitions will compete with the ones from the other countries.

TOKYO EVENT

October 19th, 2023

Startups from all over Japan will apply to pitch their projects during the Tokyo event on October 19th in front of 200 participants, including investors, media, major corporations, government officials, academics, entrepreneurs, food professionals, and chefs.

A team of experts will analyze the applications and will select 5 finalist startups who will pitch during the event.

The final competition will take place on October 19th, at Tokyo Convention Hall from 2.00 to 7.00 pm. The event will also feature panel discussions and key note speeches by japanese and international experts on the latest agrifood tech trends, global initiatives, traditional food culture in Japan and gastronomy.

Award for the winner

The best startup will be awarded a one-month residency at the LABe-Digital Gastronomy Lab startup incubator in Donostia-San Sebastian, an open innovation living lab run by the Basque Culinary Center, and a 20-hour credit for research and innovation projects at BCC Innovation, the Basque Culinary Center’s Gastronomy technology center.

During their stay, the startups will also get the opportunity to draw up an advanced plan in the digital platform GOe Community, where they can join and access the Basque Culinary Center’s network of experts and mentors and receive different kinds of support on issues such as accessing the center’s investor network, networking or support for setting up in the local ecosystem, etc.

Since 2014 with the Culinary Action! entrepreneurship program they are attracting entrepreneurs, students, companies, investors and society to make a real socio-economic impact on the gastronomy sector.
